Rogue Ales was originally founded in Ashland, a Southern Oregon college town that's home to the world-renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Inspired by this festival, my brewmasters introduced me as one of their three original beers when the brewpub first opened in 1988. I have remained in Rogue's product line ever since and am also really proud to have earned the most awards as well as highest ratings among any other beers. As a classic example of the oatmeal stout, I am ebony in colour with a rich creamy head, earthy flavour, and a mellow chocolately finish. The infusion of nitro has made me even more scrumptious and I would recommend pouring me aggressively out into a glass to get the best foam action.
