In 1934, the successful opening of the Westmalle brewery was celebrated with a ground-breaking new beer – me. Brewed based on a recipe by Henri Vanderlinden, a master brewer and then-advisor to the brewery, I am the first Tripel beer in the world.
"Tripel" makes reference to the fact that ingredients used in the beer are in quantities thrice larger than usual. Crafted with European hops and the finest barley malts, I pour clear golden with a creamy white froth that offers a complex fruity-sweet and bitter-hoppy profile. I am elegant and refined, yet soft and inviting, worthy of my age-old nicknames like the "Champagne of Belgium" or the "Mother of all Tripels".

Westmalle, Belgium
Founded in 1794, Westmalle Brewery is one of the only 12 Trappist breweries in the world. The brewers in the abbey take great pride in maintaining careful control over the brewing process – all hops are added by hand and no additives of any kind are found in Westmalle's ales; they are the flavour of nature, tradition and dedication.
