Minimus 1968 Old Vine Pinot Noir - 2016

| 12.7% ABV
In the Minimus 1986 Pinot Noir are all that remains of the original, own-rooted, gnarled Pinot Noir plantings of Dick Erath (one of the early pioneers of Oregon's wine industry) in Willamette Valley's Chehalem Moutain Vineyard. This particular block was planted in 1968 and today produces an elegant, structured wine with fine tannins. Older vines offer stability in a way that younger vines do not - deep roots reach through multiple layers of soil to draw character and complexity to a consistently small crop. This Pinot Noir is Minimus' tribute to the pioneers of Oregon's Willamette Valley.

About the Brand

Minimus Wines are unconventional even by Oregon standards. Each wine is an individually numbered, non-repeating experiment with assorted varieties, fermentation, and maturation techniques that eschew or break formal winemaking conventions. Winemaker Chad Stock also produces for Omero Cellars, and is widely known for breaking and pushes rules in the cellar even though he has a formal education in wine, majoring in enology and viticulture. Sommeliers and critics look at Minimus as a deep pool of individual expression of exploration, coming from a dedicated and thought-provoking winemaker.
