This is the third release of the Minimus Grenache from the Soloro Vineyards in Applegate Valley, Southern Oregon. Winemaker Chad Stock picked the fruits early from those iron-rich sandy soils to retain freshness and fermented them slowly in whole clusters to preserve the site's natural floral notes, as well as bring spice and structure to the palate. This wine is generous and supple with a mouthful of juicy wild red and black raspberries and black currants, followed by hints of purple floral, pie spice, salty black liquorice, lemon thyme and pepper. Threading through a streak of umami, the tannins is chewy, suggesting that this vintage will be exemplary with age. As with all Minimus wines, this Grenache breaks the mold and rewards your attention.
