Greetings fellow beer enthusiasts! I am the Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA, the first beer to utilize a revolutionary brewing technique known as "continuous hopping". This technique, which was invented by the founder of Dogfish Head, Sam Calagione, has now become a staple in breweries across the United States.
According to Food & Wine Magazine, I am "one of the most important American craft beers ever brewed", and Esquire Magazine has named me "The best IPA in America". While I am now quite famous, my humble origins began with a simple bowl of soup and a thrift store football game.
Let me explain... You see, Sam was inspired by a chef adding pepper to soup in small doses to build bold flavors and he decided to apply this same concept to beer brewing. On top of that, he used a rigged thrift store football game to keep my hops shaking and shimming, eventually cascading down into the boiling wort at a consistent rate. This may be an unconventional approach, but it's what makes me so hoppy-licious with a complex and unapologetic flavor.
So there you have it, folks - the Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA, a beer inspired by soup and football, and made with a whole lot of love (and hops). Come join us on this flavor-packed adventure - your taste buds, which will taste intricate notes of brandied fruitcake, raisin, citrus, pine, fresh hops and malt, will thank you.
