I'm dark plum in colour with aromas of chocolate, brambly blackberries, toasted clove, and sweet cinnamon, all working together to welcome you to dive into the glass. The first sip of me will burst on your palate with flavours of plum, raspberry, and pomegranate, then finish with notes of dried cranberry, cherry, charred sage, cocoa nibs, and sweet vanilla. Big in mouthfeel and flavour, I'm a Zinfandel that delivers on all points!
My goal is to deliver and reflect Lodi's true character – the region's unique soil and wonderful Mediterranean climate. My Zinfandel grapes are majority sourced from old blocks of head-trained vines planted in the sandy soils of Lodi's Mokelumne River Basin back in the 60's and 80's. This main varietal is blended with a few other Clarksburg natives like the Tempranillo for its bright cherry notes, the Merlot for its ripe blueberry flavours, the Petite Sirah for its lush silkiness, and the Mourvedre for its earthy tannin. Combined together, these varietals deliver complexity and layers for the bold Zinfandel wine that I am – full of ripe fruit intensity and an excellent structure that lingers throughout the palate.
