I am Westmalle Dubbel — the original Trappist Dubbel, brewed from a legacy that began in 1836 with the monks’ now-legendary “liquid sandwiches.”

Back then, Prior Alexius had a bold idea: to nourish his fellow monks each morning with a hearty breakfast... and two glasses of his dark, comforting brew. It wasn’t long before those glasses became a daily ritual — and eventually, a craft perfected. After decades of refinement, I was born in 1926, carrying forward the monastery’s devotion to balance, depth, and quiet strength.

I pour a deep ruby-brown beneath a creamy, lacing head. My aroma carries warm notes of caramel, dark malt, and ripe banana. On the palate, I’m soft and full-bodied, layered with fruity esters, subtle spice, and a gently bitter, dry finish that lingers with grace. The name "Dubbel" reflects my roots — double the ingredients of the monks’ original table beer, and double the satisfaction.

Still brewed within abbey walls and bearing the Authentic Trappist Product seal, I remain a benchmark for Belgian Dubbels — rich, complex, and made to be savored.
