Courage & Co
In 1787, John Courage bought a small brewery at Horselydown to realise his brewing dreams. He initially named it Anchor Brewery, although the name was already in use. After John’s passing, his son, who was also named John, took over and became the sole owner in 1851. Courage & Co survived many hardships: a fire, two World Wars, and even bounced around several acquisitions and mergers. Despite everything, Courage managed to become one of the most established breweries in the UK with several delicious beers under its name
