I am Rochefort 6 — the first to emerge from the abbey walls, and the quiet soul of our sacred brewery.
Brewed since 1950 and rooted in recipes dating back to 1899, I was once crafted as a healing tonic, meant to restore the body and spirit. Today, I remain the most modest in strength among my brothers, but do not mistake my gentleness for simplicity. Cloaked in deep ruby hues with a delicate white crown, I offer a soft, rounded introduction to the world of Rochefort — a place where silence, time, and devotion shape every brew.
At 7.5% ABV, I am best served between 12–14°C, where my amber body reveals layers of golden caramel, soft cereals, and farm-fresh fruit. A touch of banana, a trace of herbal spice, and whispers of brown sugar drift through each sip — not loud or boastful, but steady and sure, like the rhythm of monastic prayer.
I am tradition in its purest form — humble yet enduring. The first voice in a sacred chorus that has echoed through generations of Rochefort brewing.

The Rochefort Brewery, or Rochefort Trappistes, is one of the only eleven Trappist breweries in the world. The monastery, Abbey of St. Remy, or Rochefort Abbey, was founded in 1230, and their monks began to brew beer within its walls sometime around 1595. Trappistes Rochefort handmakes full-bodied, deeply flavoured and bottle-conditioned dark ales that are now among the world's most highly-respected and sought-after beverages. As with all other Trappist breweries, the monks will not increase beer production based on demand or profit motives, but only enough to support the monastery and other charitable causes, resulting in its fairly limited supply.
