In a world where variety abounds, I proudly stand as the singular offering of the esteemed Orval Brewery. Since 1931, I have been meticulously crafted by the dedicated Trappist monks of Abbey Notre-Dame d'Orval, who have poured their passion and devotion into perfecting every aspect of my creation.
Crafted with unparalleled mastery, I am the epitome of depth and character, celebrated by brewers worldwide as an unrivaled masterpiece. The secret to my enchanting allure lies in the skillful combination of time-honored brewing techniques and the distinctive strain of Belgian yeast that lives within me.
As you behold my deep orange-amber hue and luxuriously foamy head, a symphony of aromas fills the air—hints of leather, spices, and an earthy essence beckon you closer. With each sip, you will be immersed in a world of flavor, where notes of fruity hops mingle with a delightful acidity, leading to a wonderfully dry and satisfying finish.
I am not merely a beer; I am a grand tribute to centuries of tradition, a masterpiece crafted for those who appreciate the artistry of brewing. Cellar me with care, and witness how time bestows upon me an evolving tapestry of flavors, making every encounter with me an extraordinary experience.

It was the year 1070. Cistercian monks arrived in Gaume and settled down for about 40 years before leaving for unknown reasons. A small community of canons and, much later on, 7 monks formed a single community and led pretty quiet lives until the French revolution. In order to finance the massive reconstruction of the charred remains of their abbey, the Cistercians established the Orval Brewery in 1931. Right from the start, the monastery hired lay-brewers to help brew the beers, including a master brewer who invented the recipe of the now-legendary Orval Trappist Ale. Orval Brewery only produces one beer, which is the Trappist Ale, but it is one of the most sought-after beers in the world!
