8 drinks to get you through mind-numbing Christmas songs

Don’t get us wrong, we love Christmas. It’s our favourite time of the year! But the same few Christmas oldies at every single shopping mall gets on our nerves. Rudolph may be adorable, and Jingle Bells may be really catchy, but they do get a little annoying after awhile.

Our secret tip to getting through these Christmas songs on repeat is simply to drink the annoyances away. After all, getting tipsy after a few delectable drinks is the best way to get you in the mood for some Christmas festivities.

1. All I Want For Christmas Is You

For all the romantics
out there, you may want to celebrate Christmas with your partner. While Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is a romantic Christmas classic, it can get a little sickening after a few plays.

To prevent the song from ruining your romantic Christmas, pair it with Lindemans’ Pecheresse Belgian Peach Lambic. The sweet and delicate pêche (peach) will ensure a seductively good time with your partner as it will bring out the pécheresse (sinner) in you (wink wink).

Love is sweet, and should be sweeter, especially on Christmas. Show your partner that they are indeed all you want on Christmas as you sip on your beverage surrounded by a myriad of rose petals.

2. O Tannenbaum

One of the world's most famous German Christmas carols, "O Tannenbaum" gets boring after you've listen to it thrice. Make it more interesting by drinking Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, a traditional German wheat beer!

3. Blue Christmas

Sure, we’ve all heard of a white Christmas, but what about blue? Elvis Presley’s “Blue Christmas” is a sorrowful Christmas song that borrows the melancholic sentiments from the colour blue, and what better beer to drink it with, than with a blue can of beer? Drink those blues away with the bold and beautiful Wayward West Coast IPA.

4. Feliz Navidad

“Feliz Navidad” is insanely catchy, but its simple melody and lyrics can also be quite annoying after hearing it on repeat. To ease the annoyance, pair it with Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager. The salt and lime will spice up your Christmas from the very first sip!

5. We Wish You A Merry Christmas

The 4 Pines Pale Ale is easy-drinking yet flavourful, and its bright red can will help to brighten the mood after you listen to this holiday classic. The brewery also gives back to non-profit organisations, which is very much in line with Christmas, the season of giving.

6. Last Christmas

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart

But the very next day, you gave it away 🙁

Some Christmases are made of heartbreaks, as evidenced by the super popular Christmas song titled “Last Christmas”. What better way to mend a heartbreak during such a festive and joyous season by taking on Founders’ KBS Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout.

Boasting a 12% ABV, the Imperial Stout has intense notes of roasted coffee and chocolate that will sail you right through your sorrow.

7. It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Michael Bublé has released many iconic Christmas songs, but not everyone is a fan. However, we can’t deny that
“It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” is a song that really gets one in the Christmas mood.

You should definitely pair the song with Delirium’s Christmas Release: Delirium’s Christmas Release: Noël Winter Ale - to really embrace the Christmas-sy vibes. This ale has both the exciting spices and fruity cinnamon sweetness of winter beers - what more can you ask for?

8. I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

A collaboration with Honey Mama resulted in this special stout that's full of love from both Mommy and Santa 😉. Rogue Santa's Private Reserve has everything you need to combat this spicy song; tahini for flavour, tangerine for brightness, and chocolate for that tinge of bittersweet!

Pairing the perfect drinks with Christmas songs

If you are someone who finds the Grinch very relatable, this list will definitely come in handy for you. Perhaps after drinking your sorrows and annoyances away, you will come to love Christmas as much as we do. After all, there is nothing a couple of beers can’t solve! (Just kidding… Unless…?)
