Born in the 1960s, I was the first abbey ale to emerge from the quiet halls of Koningshoeven Abbey. Since then, I’ve become a beloved staple among monks and beer lovers alike — approachable, balanced, and a little bit spirited. You could say I helped put Dutch Trappist brewing on the map.
I pour a warm gold with a soft white head, releasing fruity, floral aromas and a whisper of spice. My taste is as inviting as a sunlit chapel — slightly sweet, gently bitter, with notes of caramel, malt, and a touch of clove. Every sip finishes clean and tingling, with just enough depth to keep you coming back.
Pair me with poultry, veal, soft cheeses, or even poffertjes if you're feeling indulgent. I may be humble in strength, but I, the La Trappe Blonde Ale, carry the very soul of the abbey in each bottle.

La Trappe is one of the 11 Trappist Breweries in the world with the Authentic Trappist Product (ATP) logo on their beers. The brewery was founded in 1884 by a group of French Trappist monks from the Koningshoeven Abbey who sought refuge in the moorlands of Berkel-Enschot. The monks established the brewery in order to generate funds for the upkeep of the monastery, as well as for the construction of a new brewery. Today, La Trappe is a greatly respected brewery, thanks to its highly unique, richly flavoured, and authentic ales, alongside its commitment to social responsibility and sustainability!
