Brewed since 1989, I am the first and original Kasteel beer. The name "Kasteel" is a reference to the Ingelmunster castle that was owned by my brewers, the Van Honsebrouck family, while the name "Donker" means dark, which accurately describes my Quadrupel beer style.
I am hopped using only English varietals and offer to my drinkers a strong, dark and rich pour with a complex flavour of sweet over-ripe fruits, raisins, brown sugar, chocolate, spice and Belgian yeast. My 11% ABV provides for a relaxing alcohol warmth that makes me the perfect nightcap.

Founded in 1865, Van Honsebrouck Brewery is one of the few rare breweries in the world to produce spontaneously fermented ales as well as lagers, and played a crucial role in defining the craft of Belgian beers. Now in its 5th generation of the family brewing, this historical brewery now brews a diverse range of award-winning and highly sought-after Belgian ales.
