Brewed by the family-run Brouwerij Van den Bossche in the village of Sint-Lievens-Esse, I, the Pater Lieven Wit, am a tribute to the enduring legacy of Father Lieven — a compassionate monk whose name lives on through this refreshing, elegant witbier. With my roots planted in centuries-old Belgian brewing tradition, I represent both spiritual heritage and summertime joy in a bottle.
Cloudy and pale by design, I’m brewed with barley malt, wheat, and oats for a creamy mouthfeel and soft texture. Classic witbier aromatics of dried orange peel and coriander give me a zesty, floral lift, while gentle carbonation adds playful effervescence. With every sip, I unfold citrusy freshness, subtle spice, and a pleasantly dry finish, underpinned by natural bottle refermentation.
At just 4.5% ABV, I’m the kind of witbier that doesn’t shout — I sing. Light, refined, and easy to love, I’m perfect for warm days, light fare, or simply sipping in good company.
Van den Bossche Brewery is a family-run brewery which is still currently run by the 4th generation of Van den Bossche - Bruno. The brewery was founded in 1897, when Arthur Van den Bossche purchased a plot of land in Sint-Lievens-Esse and built a brewery and a chocolaterie there. Though the brewery’s first iconic brew was created via a young apprentice’s mistake, the rest of its beers continued the legacy of its first signature beer - the Buffalo Stout. In honour of the Sint Livinus festivities, Van den Bossche Brewery created the Pater Lieven range of authentic abbey beers that contributed widely to its success. Today, the brewery continues to brew delicious and flavourful beers that everyone can enjoy!
